Stardate..........2010

July 31st
It has been very rewarding today to take all of our Finnish Lapphund puppies to have their eye certification. As all of our adults have been assessed under the ACES (Australian Canine Eye Scheme), and have all passed with no problems to date, it has just been a formality for all of the puppies to also be assessed as clear of eye problems. The Specialist Veterinary Ophthalmologist was very pleased to be able to deliver this verdict as I gather it is not the case with every litter that she assesses.

It was a bit of an ordeal as both legs of the journey produced a lot of drool and some vomit from these little ones. The vet nurses didn't seem to mind at all and were just taken with how cute they all were. Thanks for all of your help guys in cleaning up and everything else.

Our Finnish Lapphund Ch. Watersedge Tru Diamond (IID) (Sylvi) also passed her eye certificate with no detectable abnormalities. All in all we are very happy with these results.

Another marathon vet visit for microchipping and DNA workups but things are on the go for both our Australian Kelpie and Finnish Lapphund puppies. Ch. Watersedge Alias Anja (Saani) is one lucky Finnish Lapphund as there have been no ill effects from her brush with a paralysis tick. It is going to be a bad season for them.

July 28th
A busy evening with our Finnish Lapphund puppies having their first vaccination. It was a bit of a production line and it is the first time that Watersedge Kennels has ever had so many line up for their needles as the same time.

It was a bit of a shock to find not long after the Vet had left that Ch. Watersedge Alias Anja (Sanni) had a paralysis tick just above her eye. We will be watching and waiting considering the touch and go situation we had almost 2 years ago with Ch. Theldaroy KissMe It's Ezy (IID) Elke.

More updates of the Finnish Lapphund puppies are in the Photo Gallery. They are all growing into lovely puppies and it is very pleasing to see their personalities develop.

It has been impossible to take any updates for our Australian Kelpie litter from Ch. Tomolga Designer Genes (Noosa) as they are never still!

Our Australian Kelpie litter from Ch. Tomolga Desiger Genes (Noosa) has had their vaccinations today which entailed a trip to the vet. They were such very good little boys and there was not so much as a whimper from them - more like an adventure!

It was not a very good end to today. Vale our gorgeous Himalayan Persian Misjay Lightning aka Oliver. Oliver has been battling renal failure over the last few weeks.

Oliver came home to live with us on Christmas Eve 1997 as a Christmas present for my mother Lois.

He quickly became a play toy for our Australian Kelpie Grand Ch. Ringbarka Ginger Meggs (Ginger Meggs). He was Ginger Meggs' cat and not even his sister Ch. Ringbarka Gemma (Gemma) was allowed to play with Oliver. When Ch. Nellarou Picnic Racer (Nicki) arrived in the household, she took possession of the cats and would spend hours "cleaning" them, much to the cats' chagrin!

In later years Oliver was a companion for my father Ron up until he passed away.

Oliver has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I am sure is now with his other family.
