Almost a week has gone by since the arrival of Ch. Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (imp SWD) (Markku). Markku has fitted in so well, it is hard to believe that he has not always been here.

He had a visit to The Vet Lounge today to be given a health check following his "ordeal" and of course give me the opportunity to show him off and for him to be made a fuss of!

Ch. Watersedge Tru Colours (IID) (Katja) has also had her first antenatal check in the lead up to her confinement. It has been a very busy month at Watersedge Kennels!

It has been a very long day which kicked off with a very early start.

It was the day to finally bring Herding Instinct's Herra Watersedge (imp SWD) (Markku) our new Finnish Lapphund import home!

Markku was released from quarantine not long after the gates opened this morning and then had a whirlwind trip around the southwestern suburbs of Melbourne before boarding the plane to Queensland and his new home.

Thanks to Wayne Sharp of Janoby kennels for meeting my plane, chauffeuring us around the Melbourne environs and being there when Markku was released. It was a bit of an adventure, first stopping at the local PetBarn to catch up with Sue Sharp and allow Markku to strectch his legs before a rest stop at Janoby Kennels.

Markku had a lovely game with "great Auntie Kiki", Ch. Theldaroy Wild About Me, a sister to Watersedge Kennel's Grand Ch. Theldaroy Wild Not Me (Laani) and Ch. Theldaroy Wild Wild Ways (Chey). He was very happy to finally be able to play with another dog and I think most importantly to him another Finnish Lapphund. It was Lappie heaven for him.

It was also a reunion for me with Ch. Janoby All About Aura (Roara) who had spent 12 months at Watersedge last year. She is the mother of the newcomers Watersedge Secret Agent (Larry) owned by Janoby Kennels, Watersedge Sno Drift (Toska) owned by Miavig Kennels and Watersedge Kennels' own Watersedge All About Attitude (Kati) who is soon (finally) to make her show debut! Both Roara and I were trying to work out how I could smuggle her out in my knapsack...

The day did not stop there and it was on to Melbourne's KCC Showgrounds. Very impressive to an interstater who can only wish that sometime in the future Queensland has an indoor facility!

Markku was not fazed by this stop over and had several aspiring and accomplished judges compliment him and wish him well on his Australian campaign.

It was also an opportunity to catch up with Watersedge Kings Counsel (Rex) and his family. Rex is from the recent litter between Grand Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi (IID) (Aleksi) and Ch. Theldaroy Best Example (Minka) who is a sister to Kiki, Laani and Chey. Rex may soon make his debut in the show ring so we wish all involved well with that venture.

We also had the opportunity to meet little "Alera" from Janoby's recent litter which was also her very first time in the show ring. Markku had another lovely time playing with these two youngsters. Lappies seem to be taking over!

Finally it was time to make our way back to Melbourne airport for the flight home. Markku must be a bit of an old hand at this flying caper by now.

After much anticipation Markku is finally home!

He has made instant friends with puppies from the last litter between Ch. Janoby All About Aslann (Aslann) and Ch. Watersedge Tru Destiny (IID) HT (Jaana) - Watersedge Destiny's Child (Beyonce) and Watersedge Destined to Shine (Benji) - and our Australian Kelpie from Ch. Engleforest Jarrah (Jarrah) and Ch. Tomolga Designer Genes (Noosa) - Watersedge Man In Black (Sooty). Both Benji and Sooty are still looking for their forever homes.

He is trying to win over Ch. Watersedge Sno White (Miia), Ch. Watersedge All About Attitude (Kati), Ch. Watersedge Sno Lilly (Lylli) and the object of his affection Ch. Watersedge Tiger Lilly (Heidi). He is very persistent and I am sure it will pay off for him as he is absolutely delightful.

There is one tired little man tonight and I am sure he will sleep soundly knowing that he is safe, secure and comfortable.

Many thanks again to Cattlin Marques from Herding Instinct's Kennel in Sweden for sending this lovely boy to Watersedge. He will be a very much loved and treasured member of our family.

Another step forward for Watersedge Kennels Finnish Lapphund breeding program with news today that Ch. Watersedge Tru Colours (IID) (Katja) is having puppies!

Katja is pregnant to imported semen and this is a very exciting time for us indeed. To all of those concerned in helping to make this happen, from many different parts of the world - thank you very much.

Katja is due mid November. Stay tuned for more updates!

Today has been a very exciting day for me as I have had the opportunity to finally meet Markku!

The day started with an early flight to Melbourne and a morning visitation session with Markku.

He is a very lovely boy and has certainly met and exceeded my hopes for him. It was such a wonderful feeling to be able to see and cuddle this special boy who I have followed over the internet from the time he was born.

I was able to return for the afternoon to visit again and this time brought with me Wayne & Sue Sharp of Janoby Kennels and Terri MacDonald of Taigakoira Kennels. Markku was given some new toys to play with and we were all able see his playful nature come to the fore in the Melbourne sunshine.

Many hugs and photos later and it was time to leave him all too soon. Thank you to the staff for making my visit special and allowing me to visit for the day. I am sure Markku is wondering what he did to end up in "prison" on the other side of the world.

I was also able to catch up after my visit with Markku with Watersedge Little Black Dress (Sohvi) from Watersedge's litter late last year between Grand Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi (IID) (Aleksi) and Theldaroy KissMe It's Ezy (IID) (Elke). Sohvi "sausage" is just delightful as are her "siblings" Ch. Janoby Clear The Way (Bear) and Janoby Clear Future (Tasha) who were both sired by Ch. Watersedge Sno Storm (Kustaa).

Thanks also to Wayne and Sue Sharp and Terry MacDonald and Steve Horton for making our visit special as well.
