Vale Aus. Ch. Watersedge Evening Star

05.03.1998 - 30.08.2001

It is with a very heavy hear that Watersedge announces the loss of our Australian Kelpie Aus. Ch. Watersedge Evening Star (Evie). Evie had what was equivalent to a human "stroke". She was assisted to the Rainbow Bridge where she is now free.

She was 13 years old.

Evie was a very special girl. She was the first black Kelpie to call Watersedge home since the loss of "Nugget" who was instrumental in the founding of Watersedge Kelpies.

Evie was a daughter of two very special Australian Kelpies - Aus. Ch. Kairouban Flashy Black (Flash) and Aus. Ch. Ringbarka Gemma (Gemma). Both Flash and Gemma were close to 15 when they left home.

Evie also follows her recently departed half brother Aus. Ch. Watersedge Crown Jewels (CJ) to the Rainbow Bridge.

It has been a very difficult few months; it is especially difficult to say goodbye, until we meet again to the "oldies" who will always have there special place in our hearts.

Until we meet again "Baby Evie"... Not a day will go by that we won't be thinking of you and missing your happy face.

Considering the very sad start to the month of August it is nice to receive more good news.

Congratulations to Watersedge Little Black Dress (Sohvi) on also obtaining your Australian Champion title. Sohvi is a puppy from the litter between Aus. Grand Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi (IID FIN) (Aleksi) and Theldaroy KissMe It's Ezy (IID FIN) (Elke). Sohvi, owned and partnered by Terri MacDonald of Taigakoira Kennels was shown to this achievement being awarded Best of Breed Finnish Lapphund at today's show. Well done!

Also at another show in Victoria, Watersedge Secret Agent (Larry) was awarded Best of Breed today, having achieved the final points for his Australian Champion title yesterday.

Meanwhile in New South Wales Watersedge Sweet Destiny (Vienna) was awarded the Reserve Bitch Challenge at the Spring Fair. Vienna has been only shown sparingly over the last 12 months and always seems to do well when she come out.

Well done to all of the Watersedge Finnish Lapphunds out and about this weekend.

Watersedge is proud to announce that our Finnish Lapphund Watersedge Secret Agent (Larry), from Aus. Grand Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi (IID FIN) (Aleksi) and Aus. Ch. Janoby All About Aura (Roara) has obtained the final points today that he required for his Australian Champion title. Well done to Wayne and Sue Sharp of Janoby Kennels on this achievement.

Also, Watersedge Undercover Girl (Rihanna) was awarded her first Baby Puppy in Group. Rihanna was shown to this award by Wayne and Sue's grandson Ryan. I think there is a junior handler in the making there.

Rihanna is a full sister to Watersedge Ur Under Arrest (Kovu), handled by Melissa De Matos, who also achieved a Baby Puppy in Group award only a couple of weeks ago.

Congratulations to you and wishing you more success to come.

They say that things come in threes...

That can certainly be said for the loss of yet another of our Australian Kelpies. Word from New Zealand from Dot Janssen of Miyana Kennels that Watersedge Triple Crown (Keller) has gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

It is a very sad thing to say goodbye to our special dogs and Keller was certainly in that league. He made the journey across to New Zealand with his sister Watersedge Magic Millions (Maggie) in 2000. They were puppies from the last litter between Aus. Grand Ch. Ringbarka Ginger Meggs (Ginger Meggs) and Aus. Ch. Nellarou Picnic Racer (Nicki). Both of these dogs will also have a very special place in my heart and I can feel the pain that Kellers' loss has caused to Dot and Gary.

I cried for days when I sent both off to their new lives but I couldn't have wished for better for both of those puppies. To have dogs that you have bred be so loved is all that you can really ask. Thank you Dot for all that you did for Keller during his lifetime and for the love that you shared with him. Dot and I have remained firm friends over the years and it was good to catch up with her and Gary when they were visiting Queensland a few years ago.

Keller has certainly had an influence on Dot's breeding program and he will live on his progeny.

RIP Keller. Run free with Maggie and your mother and father.
