Stardate..........2009

Many Happy Birthday returns to our Australian Kelpie Ch.Watersedge Scarlet O'Hara (Tara). Tara has just turned 12. It is unbelievable to think that she has reached this age as it seems like yesterday that she was just a baby.

Tara was the very first puppy that we kept from any of our litters. She was an absolute dream to campaign in the Show Ring as she had IT! Throughout her time in the ring she recieved countless comments on her effortless movement.

Tara obtained many Group and Show awards during her show career, including a Reserve in Group award when she was just 9 months of age.

Watersedge Designer Label (Abby) becomes the first of our Australian Kelpies to gain the 2nd pass required for her Herding Test (HT) title. Abby is showing great promise and again as with Ch. Watersedge Tru Destiny (IID) HT  (Jaana) our first Finnish Lapphund to achieve this, the serious training is now beginning.

Abby is a lot of dog for a Novice Herding handler to cope with. However with the support of our trainer and many other Herding enthusiasts, I am sure that it is going to be a very exciting journey for both of us.

It was unfortunate that the day was so long. Had our Finnish Lapphund Ch. Watersedge Sno Lily (Lylli) cast counter clockwise for one final time and brought the sheep to me, the judge on the day assured me that she also would have been able to claim her Herding Test (HT) title.

Lylli is becoming less excitable around sheep. Regrettabley today she was so laid back that she just "lay down" and said "nuh, I don't want to"! There is always another trial and with more training I hope to be able to announce in the future that she has also been successful.

Welcome to the "new look" Watersedge website - official launch day!! As well as the new look to the site, there have been many updates and additions to some of the pages. We hope you enjoy thumbing through the pages.

On the other side of town, our two-tone Black & Tan Australian Kelpie, Watersedge Designer Label (Abby) has gained the first pass for her Herding Test (HT) title. Abby is a little dynamo but she is becoming a bit easier (slightly!) to read and control. I am very pleased with this result.

Not to be outdone, her litter sister Watersedge Private Collection (Ivy-Rose) our two-tone Red & Tan Australian Kelpie, has also been successful in gaining her Herding Instinct Certificate (HIC). Ivy-Rose will be eased into Herding. She is much more biddable than Abby but still is a handful.

I am very pleased with these 2 young ladies considering that they are still only very young.

Again, thanks to Dave McGuiness for the photos. Photos now in the gallery.

Ch. Watersedge Tru Destiny (IID) (Jaana) gains the final pass required for her to claim the Herding Test (HT) title. Jaana has shown a definite interest in this dog sport and will be continuing as long as she is keen. Now the real training begins.........!

Jaana is the first from Watersedge to obtain a "Herding" title. I am led to believe that she is the second of the Finnish Lapphund breed in Australia to have qualified for this title and the first female of the breed.

Our Finnish Lapphund, Ch. Watersedge Tru Destiny (IID) (Jaana) obtains the first pass required for the Herding Test (HT) title.

Jaana had not been involved with Herding this year due to her impending motherhood. This seems to be the "tonic" that she needed to forget her "woes". She is showing great promise in this dog sport.

Watersedge Designer Label, our Black & Tan Australian Kelpie, has also shown an interest in Herding, today obtaining her Herding Instinct Certificate (HIC).

A special thanks to Dave McGuiness, the resident photographer for capturing these moments on film. Photos now in the gallery.

Our gorgeous Finnish Lapphund babies are now 1 week old! They are growing and changing day by day. Photos of these precious little ones are now in the Gallery.

Puppies from previous Finnish Lapphund litters can also be viewed in the Gallery.
